Questions to Address

  • As we seek to align a common vision around empathy, we will have multiple opportunities to listen and see different approaches to teaching.

  • Does the society we live in force children to focus on unempathetic competition, rather than empathetic cooperation?( This is Riane's question.)

  • How does nature teach empathy?

  • Does our system provide children with opportunities to learn from nature if they live in overcrowded cities?

  • How can empathy be the guide for affecting social change beginning with our school system?

  • Where does empathy exist in the day to day relationships between teachers, administrators, councilors, and students?

  • How does a strong educational setting contribute to learning?

  • Does it show support for emotional development?
